Portraits? it is about the ability to capture the character and soul of the sitter and not look like a professional. in my opinion it is all there. Maybe try less and look more?

ha, when patience escapes me i tend to just ripped it up and throw it out! nice job, but yeah i agree with above comments, however self-portraits are more of a challenge for me.
