As I mentioned lately, I paid for a customized domain and my blog still redirects to the free one. And upon asking WordPress told me, now I have to buy a plan too, to use the customized domain for which I have already paid.
this is how the convo with them went.
None of it is making sense to me. I paid $18 for a customized domain and now they want me to pay at least $60 more to be able to use it. So customized domain is $78, not $18 as it says on the website.
Adding screenshots below to show that I paid for a customized domain that should be valid till next year. And my site still shows as stoneronarollercoaster.wordpress.com (the free domain)
none of this is making sense to me, let me know if it makes any sense to you please
I agree with your conclusions. WordPress inducement seems to be a bait and switch scheme or at the very least intentional vague advertisement. I’ll personally wait for a more transparent site that is actually more affordable to transfer to. Best of luck…

Each year I get charged separately for my domain name renewal (approximately $18 US) and my plan renewal. It’s confusing that they do it that way.

This is how it happened last year. I wanted both. This year i didnt want the plan but the customized name and this happened….

The answer which says (automatic) doesn’t sound human
Is it a chat bot? Can you ask to speak to a supervisor? Is there an ombudsman for this?

idk. this is so frustrating. this did sound like a bot but idk where else to write. will get to it in a few day…or maybe not. i just hate when you have to fight for things like these. this shouldnt even be a problem.

The paid domain works in such a way that it leads readers to the correct address, i.e. your page, but it is not visible in the address bar after that.

this year i decided to open a new website and i thought i d sign up for a premium? what i got was pro? whatever that means, it does nothing it promised, and it cost me, $220.00 per year. its is not what i asked for? i think over the last two years, wordpress misleads people, since all the wordpress changes, they are basically not working at all. my people no s are down down since?

$220 for nothing hurts far more than my $18 (since I’m not going to pay for the plan i dont even need).
did you write to them?
my following go up and then go down, which doesnt make sense i get new followers everyday but total coiunt remains the same. wordpress has been having issues for last 2 years at least, i agree.

You had expected they were operating under the mantel of integrity, believed their intention to be based on idealism; now you have discovered cancerous commercialism had hollowed out what you had perceived as a solid core and consequently dissolved your enthusiasm! You may want to stir up the beast, but will the beast respond accordingly to your demands?

beast sends me automated replies. it’s sleeping and everything i say, i’m getting same answers.
i actually did believe in thier integrity, now i’m deeply disappointed, not the first time tho.
