Do you want $120,000??
Take a ripe banana and stick it to a wall with a piece of duct tape and call it “Comedian” (a special medal for the name, please)
And DONE!
You just created a masterpiece worth $120,000.
Some extra specifications though; you have to be controversial Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan.
This guy..
Swear he just fixed my big-nose insecurities.
Well, his last legendary artwork was an 18-Karat gold fully functioning toilet, titled “America”
yup..
So, this guy taped a ripe banana to a wall at an Art Basel exhibition in Miami Beach, Florida (Florida…now I am not surprised). And sold its authentication certificate for an insane amount. It comes with instruction to change banana every 2 days, when it’s ripe.
Like, thanks for adding another chore to our already hectic adult lives.
Well played Maurizio! you already sound like IKEA or my mom.
And fun doesn’t end here…
A performance artist, David Datuna, just stepped forward in broad day light, snatched the banana and ate it in front of horrified audience.
You monkey man!!
We will talk about what “horrified audience” exactly means when we talk about Banksy’s “love is in the bin”
Right now focus on banana!
So this is the latest catastrophe or revolution in modern art world.
Honestly now I understand why realists freaked out when fauvism surfaced.
I don’t know what’s going on people, here after numerous art works, I haven’t mustered up courage to put a price on a single one and always wonder who is going to pay for that??
And random bananas are making people rich.
But then I never sculpted an 18-Karat loo (btw, which got stolen recently), I’m not a controversial Italian artist … and I’m not in Florida…

I wanted to cover 2 3 “master pieces” but they drain your sanity one by one..might cover those later.

That made me laugh. The idea someone could own a Banksy and auction it off….

The only ‘true art’ that I’ve connected with has been that of H.R. Geiger and yes…his work is dark and a bit warped but it resonates for me. Not that even if I had 100,000k I’d pay that for anyone’s art but…I guess there are some very wealthy unbalanced banana lovers.
Don’t get me started on the ‘avant garde’ New York types who create art with bodily fluids and get thousands for it.
My kid just won a local art contest and her drawing appeared on the 2020 calendar for a major plastics company so hey, maybe she can make multi millions and support me in my old age with portraits of cat faced garbage bags? 😛 LOL
She is a great artist, though. I can’t draw stick people. 😦

i’m so glad to know spooks is an artist already. frame that calendar and keep her artwork safe, one day she is definitely going to make you proud of her 🙂
just checked H.R Giger’s work, it’s dark but i kinda like it.
wealthy unbalanced banana lover LOL!! 😂 we need to find them man.

That’s actually an explanation. I was watching an art exhibition and a girl actually said, well you could do it too but you didn’t.. can’t argue..

Yes, that’s true. He got the idea first.

Well, you see, its the subjectification of the object, in juxtaposition to the reality vs unreality of the perceptual time quantum. 🙂 🙂 🙂
I love abstract art, and I dabble myself, but this is not art.

I love abstract art too. i relate deeply with expressionism. I appreciate new ideas..but this, I haven’t understood yet.

The sad part is, the world is full of talented artists, and they get nothing…and look at this banana..

Ok, but calling a gold toilet “America” is kind of hilarious.
