A voice i needed

Ever seen a wave sweep away a beautiful castle of sand that took hours to build ??

It’s not sand that saddens you..it the dedication and attachment that hurts.

I was feeling like that for hours today.

Felt defeated.

And then from nowhere i was hearing the poem invictus by William Ernest Henley:

“Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate,

I am the captain of my soul. “

And that changed everything. That saved something inside me that was dying.

I don’t know what happened but I’m grateful for that moment and those words.

I’m not letting myself lose that easily.

Here is a version I listen to a lot.

Who knows it changes your day too.

      1. For two reasons: his involvement in the Invictus Games and also because it seems to me, his royal status not withstanding, he’s had a hard life.

But he seems to have emerged intact, for the most part.

He lost his mom so early, and before that his parent’s marriage was so unstable. Then he’s shipped off to boarding school.

Then the rumors of his parentage.

It’s just seems like a lot for one person to endure.
