Paterson – Movie Chatter

Since we are just trying to take a break from reality this movie, Paterson, turned out to be of great help.

It’s a week in the life of a bus driver named Paterson, played by Adam Driver. Who gets to hear stories and random bits of conversations of whoever crosses his life.

You can feel him soaking their stories ideas and dreams, I think that’s because he doesn’t keep mobile phone.

Some of you might not really like it that much but I am sure poetry lovers are going to appreciate the melody of this movie.

It’s so poetic. It’s like nothing and everything.

Paterson writes poetry in his little secret notebook. And the times he narrates them you can just close your eyes and listen to it. Let it just weave into you sense. It’s a beautiful feeling.

My Favorite Peterson’s poem from the movie is:

Glow

When I wake up earlier than you and you
are turned to face me, face
on the pillow and hair spread around,
I take a chance and stare at you,
amazed in love and afraid
that you might open your eyes and have
the daylights scared out of you.
But maybe with the daylights gone
you’d see how much my chest and head
implode for you, their voices trapped
inside like unborn children fearing
they will never see the light of day.
The opening in the wall now dimly glows
its rainy blue and gray. I tie my shoes
and go downstairs to put the coffee on.

And from a little girl in the movie:

Water Falls

Water falls from the bright air.
It falls like hair.
Falling across a young girl’s shoulders.
Water falls.
Making pools in the asphalt.
Dirty mirrors with clouds and buildings inside.
It falls on the roof of my house,
It falls on my mother, and on my hair.
Most people call it rain.

If you like “before movies” or “the end of the tour”, you are going to like this movie.

The most commendable part of the movie is Adam Driver’s acting. It’s so on point not a grain more not a grain less!

If it was someone else playing the part maybe I would have gotten bored within minutes. Maybe..

But his expression, body language everything was perfect.

I recommend it as I like such movies that clear the lens for you.

I won’t dilute the essence of this movie. You have to find it out by yourself..it’s something you don’t see its something you feel.

  1. I’ve seen that movie. I really liked it. He is a poet, who carries his notebook all the time. I got teary eyed when the dog chewed his notebook where he writes his poem. And yes I love those lines too… I also like the part where he sat with the little girl.. and also when the wife was baking cupcakes and repainting a part of their house..and when he was sitting beside the Japanese while watching the waterfall.. glad you reminded me of this movie.. I should rewatch it.

    1. that gave me a heart attack! but I was waiting for his reaction and I was blown away.
that part if my favorite where he sits and listens to girl’s poem.
yea that end scene brought the movie together.
In a way I feel this movie was like a waterfall.
