Just a Portrait – Charcoal

I had one blank (tinted with charcoal) page on my sketchbook and it was bothering me.

I am a little hyper today. So thought before this energy start Depleting i better do something about that page.

So..

So…

Tada…

How’s it??

I took the idea from google images so i wont take credit for that.

I like how it turned out even though i could point my mistakes in it. Alot of them actually which is good.

So yeah.

Its comforting to know that i completed 1 thin sketchbook..will do a sketchbook tour soon or maybe will show all of the work.

Most of it is on my blog under category “art & photography” (for new fellow bloggers).

Please feel free to criticize/give feedback. Any suggestion will help me grow.

Thanks 🙂

      1. That’s my take on it. My grandfather was a professional painter in the region. His work was like pictures were taken and that’s what the public wanted. As far as I am concerned, I love abstract paintings or drawing. My favorite artist is Jackson Pollock who happened to be a bipolar by the way!

      2. I just looked up Jackson Pollack its mind boggling in a good way. So many layers and depth.
I am always drawn to expressionism for the same reason. Its a photograph of your emotions your mental state.
        Thats what art is.

    1. I saw this artwork on google so its not my idea but with shading I dont really try to copy much as you follow your own instinct while doing shading and adding layers. the curve lines were my idea it gave a dramatic touch.
yes thats what I do. to stay sane.
      thanks a lot 🙂

  1. You’ve reminded me how satisfying the urge was to take blank card or piece of paper or parchment and cover it in creativity. Superb charcoal piece. Congratulations on a finished sketchpad!

  2. I believe she is doing a selfie and trying to get her lips kissed just right. Nice and it’s in balance. It might be cool to do a charcoal drawing like that one day and then give it a colorful eye, as you have mastered that. It would make it a really unique picture. Just a thought. Now I have to go back and revisit that dang feather eye and figure out what I think it is. Love you. Donna.

you know the picture I was using as reference image did not have such dramatic shapes.. when I was working on it I liked it more enhanced ended up making lips like that. in the picture they were subtle.
thats a brilliant idea. I will definitely do it!!
I made a charcoal drawing with tinted red lips it does give a nice touch but and eye even if it bright/vibrant colors would look amazing..thank you will sure try it.
