The Catcher in the Rye- J.D. Salinger
It’s one of those books that Tether you on the very first page and you read the rest of the book wagging your tail in amusement.
It had the same vibe I felt when I was watching the movie “the end of the tour”. You will understand if you have watched it. It’s a nice movie I highly recommend it.
Well! Back to the book!
I started this book and this became a part of my left hand. Eating, drinking, walking, and talking this book never left my hand.
This is definitively one of my favorites. It helped lubricating my own literary engine.
Took me down the memory lane and I couldn’t help recollecting memories of my own schooldays.
I felt the soul of a 16-year old boy has slipped into my body and I was experiencing everything through his lens.
When you read it you will be amazed by the resemblance of Holden’s thought-process with your own.
It’s weirdly relatable throughout.
After every few lines you can’t help admitting…that’s what I do…that’s exactly my opinion on this subject…or about such and such kind of people…
Salinger tossed quite a few sensitive topics here and there but it’s done so effortlessly it doesn’t hinder the flow of the actual stroll.
It was fun reading this unique piece, this brilliant mosaic of abstractions, assumptions, grievances, reservations, fears and judgments of a teenage boy…
Or let say…reflection of your own teenage self.

Read it in straight 2 hours time.. Never watched the movie though.. Strange.. Holden and Phoebe part was the best.. All because of a mondegreen.. Sigh..

I’m pretty sure I read the Catcher in the Rye in high school, but I don’t remember much about it. Perhaps some day I’ll try to read it again. I could really benefit from a book I can’t put down. It’s been a while for me. I don’t know why, but I haven’t really read a full book in a long time.
